The Story
When COVID-19 hit Indonesia in 2020, universities sent students home. Back in Central Sulawesi, I noticed our local government's pandemic data was scattered and hard to access โ unlike Pikobar Jawa Barat which had a proper data platform.
So I built one. What started as a personal project during my 3rd year of college grew into a full platform โ API, web dashboard, and mobile app. At its peak, PICO SulTeng reached 5,000 daily active users and became a tool that helped distribute donations and connect communities.
Through PICO, we partnered with Sulteng Lawan COVID and Jaga Palu โ local communities fighting the pandemic together. The platform helped people find hospitals, track cases in their regency, and stay informed when reliable information was scarce.
The API has since been rewritten from PHP/Lumen to Go, and all code remains open source โ a record of what one student could build when the community needed it most.
