The Story
When COVID-19 hit Indonesia in 2020, reliable data was scarce — especially outside Jakarta. Back in Central Sulawesi, I watched our local government's pandemic information get buried across disconnected sources, with no central place for people to track what was happening in their own regency.
So I built one. PICO SulTeng grew from a side project into a full platform — REST API, web dashboard, and mobile app. At its peak, it reached 5,000 daily active users. Beyond tracking cases, it became infrastructure: helping distribute donations, connecting communities, and giving people a way to find hospitals when they needed them most.
Through PICO, I partnered with Sulteng Lawan COVID and Jaga Palu — local communities on the ground fighting the pandemic. That collaboration shaped what the platform became.
The API has since been rewritten from PHP/Lumen to Go. Everything remains open source — built in public, for the community that needed it.
